Ahh, The Maldives

I would have to say that some of the most fun that I have ever had flying an airplane was in the Maldives. I kid you not when I say that we were called "Barefoot Pilots" for good reason :-) !
This photo is not mine but could very well have been of me! MALDIVES BAREFOOT PILOTS

While in the Maldives I took a ton of pictures and blogged about it with my first blog which is titled Barefoot Pilot/Photographer Maldives  . I had the perfect opportunity capture amazing images from a viewing  position few have available to them . The aircraft I flew was the mighty Twin Otter and it took me to places that at times seem unbelievable.

The Maldives is truly a special place and I hope you will enjoy the images I have showcased in this post. More can be found at my gallery Maldives Landscape .

Time Lapse, Hours Into Minutes

This past Christmas my wife and I decided to treat ourselves by purchasing a GoPro Hero 4 Silver . This fantastic little camera was not only for us but also for our two boys to use.  We have all had a great time using it and I have come to no only appreciate the rugged nature of the housing that surrounds it but also the quality of images it produces!!

The GoPro shoots incredibly clear video but I thinkthe most fun that I have had with it is recording time lapse. I find the concept of recording  hours of the day  by way of a still image captured every second or so and then converting it into video that compresses those hours into minutes so appealing!

Even before purchasing it I had in mind to capture the ebb and flow of the tides of my beloved Cordova Bay. There is something about the movement of the ocean that I find very fascinating . I also like having the camera capture sunset to night transitions as well as having it observe a day of action as people go about there business.

I am still refining my techniques . Perhaps the one thing that I am having most difficulty with is deciding  the time length of the final video! When you select a video to view please view at the highest quality, for my benefit as well as your :-) !

It was crazy year in British Columbia for forest fires. Even Victoria did not escape the effects of the fires that burned throughout BC. We had a number of days here where smoke filled the air which made for quite an ominous effect that I managed to capture during a time  lapse I made of a low tide day in Cordova Bay.

My son was able to take this picture of me as I set up the GoPro below the water at the higher tide.

I had occasion to travel to Seattle Washington this summer . What a great city ! I decided to stick the GoPro to the window of our hotel room and let it run. From day to night, to almost sunrise.

Summer the lake is a privilege that my entire family enjoys. In this next time lapse I put together some of the views that we are lucky to experience. It is a little long but none the less I hope you will enjoy it !

This last video in not time lapse but rather a video shot in 1080 at 60 FPS of the little visitors that come to my backyard!
As always I hope you will enjoy my work. Please feel free to comment and share as well as few my photo gallery's!

The New Page For Rob McIntyre Photography

Link to Rob McIntyre Photography Main Gallery

Perhaps its just me but one can't being overwhelmed with the amount ways there is to get a message out these days. There so many more options when it comes to web hosting of photo galleries !!I certainly can't claim to be an expert in that regard , far from it indeed would be a much truer statement! I have tried various methods but I get frustrated trying to manage a number of different formats. When it comes right  down to it all I want to do is share/sell my images while at the same time have a venue to express my thoughts about the circumstances in which they were captured.

So with the above  in mind I have switched things up a bit. Dumped my website in favour of a blog page. That and along with storing the images I have for sale in partnership with my wife who is the owner of SophiePhoto.

I think this change will be great as it provided me with a way to share my images as well as tell the stories behind them.

Over the years I have had the opportunity to live and work in a variety of places. Not only throughout Canada and the US but as well as such places as the Maldives, Democratic Republic of Congo and Angola. I continue to travel as result of my main occupation , which is a being a Pilot. This has not only given me opportunity to travel to places off the beaten path but also to gain perspective.

The images I am sharing today I think represents just what is that I mean by the opportunity to travel off the beaten path.

From Luau Angola (There is a link embedded to give you an idea of where Luau is ).

On this day I flew in for the morning . We were transporting provincial government officials around eastern Angola. I spent the morning walking around the village with one of my colleagues and as usual I was taking photographs.

The kids were so fun and on some occasions inviting me into their homes to meet with their parents so they could be photographed too.

I did not have a lot of money with me that day and truth be told I think I would have started a riot had I not had enough for everyone. Instead I decided to had out small cards with a picture of the Maldives to the kids. Well they went crazy for them! At times  I felt like the pied piper!

I hope you will enjoy the photos and the video.
