Time Lapse, Hours Into Minutes

This past Christmas my wife and I decided to treat ourselves by purchasing a GoPro Hero 4 Silver . This fantastic little camera was not only for us but also for our two boys to use.  We have all had a great time using it and I have come to no only appreciate the rugged nature of the housing that surrounds it but also the quality of images it produces!!

The GoPro shoots incredibly clear video but I thinkthe most fun that I have had with it is recording time lapse. I find the concept of recording  hours of the day  by way of a still image captured every second or so and then converting it into video that compresses those hours into minutes so appealing!

Even before purchasing it I had in mind to capture the ebb and flow of the tides of my beloved Cordova Bay. There is something about the movement of the ocean that I find very fascinating . I also like having the camera capture sunset to night transitions as well as having it observe a day of action as people go about there business.

I am still refining my techniques . Perhaps the one thing that I am having most difficulty with is deciding  the time length of the final video! When you select a video to view please view at the highest quality, for my benefit as well as your :-) !

It was crazy year in British Columbia for forest fires. Even Victoria did not escape the effects of the fires that burned throughout BC. We had a number of days here where smoke filled the air which made for quite an ominous effect that I managed to capture during a time  lapse I made of a low tide day in Cordova Bay.

My son was able to take this picture of me as I set up the GoPro below the water at the higher tide.

I had occasion to travel to Seattle Washington this summer . What a great city ! I decided to stick the GoPro to the window of our hotel room and let it run. From day to night, to almost sunrise.

Summer the lake is a privilege that my entire family enjoys. In this next time lapse I put together some of the views that we are lucky to experience. It is a little long but none the less I hope you will enjoy it !

This last video in not time lapse but rather a video shot in 1080 at 60 FPS of the little visitors that come to my backyard!
As always I hope you will enjoy my work. Please feel free to comment and share as well as few my photo gallery's!
